Duncan Whitaker, a fine art photographer, works primarily with intimate landscapes and close-up images, including floral studies. Through the use of shapes, textures, color and light, his photographs isolate scenes or subjects of particular visual interest, and offer the viewer a different way of seeing the familiar. Whitaker’s photographs depict the scene or subject as it was composed in the camera and captured on film when the shutter was released without alteration of the final image.
Whitaker has had solo exhibits in Bethesda, Maryland, Washington, DC and Damariscotta, Maine. In addition to the Waverly Street Gallery, his work is exhibited at the Boothbay Art Gallery in Boothbay Harbor, Maine and at the Whitehall Gallery in Annapolis, Maryland.
