The Beauty of Nature
Pastel Landscapes by Loriann Signori
and New Work by Gallery Artists

Waverly Street Gallery presents “The Beauty of Nature” by Maryland based landscape painter Loriann Signori. Her work, aptly described by one reviewer as “poetic realism,” is essentially an emotional interpretation of place. The paintings reveal the artist's personal engagement with the mystery and power of nature.
Signori invests the medium of pastel with painterly touches and subtle overcast tonalities. It is dynamically scratched on a textured surface. Paradoxically, there is energy and serenity. Using pastel, watercolor and oil paint on boards prepared with marble dust and binder, Signori offers a
different way to look at landscape.
Originally an oil painter, with an MFA from American University, it wasn’t until she found pastels that her work became ignited and received recognition.
“I paint to be astonished,” says Signori. “The aim of the artist is to make people love life more. There is beauty in all of nature.”
